Following the Bengaluru clash, the Indian men’s national team will head to Kolkata to welcome another heavyweight of world football. Two-time FIFA World Cup champions Uruguay are now confirmed to face India in an international friendly at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on October 6, 2026.
This fixture comes just three days after India’s much-anticipated encounter against five-time world champions Brazil on October 3 at the same venue. Ranked 20th in the FIFA World Rankings, La Celeste are currently coached by Diego Forlán, a familiar name for Indian football fans following his stint with Mumbai City FC in 2016.
The addition of Uruguay completes an unprecedented international window for Indian football, with three World Cup-playing nations — Panama, Brazil and Uruguay — visiting the country in a single month.
