Ashmita Chaliha continued India’s impressive performance at the Korea Masters Super 300 badminton event to seal a spot in the women’s singles final following a hard-fought win over fellow Indian Rakshitha Ramraj on Saturday.
Ashmita won the semi-final 21-13, 16-21, 21-13 in Asan to move one step closer to the title. The Indian shuttler made a strong start and took control of the opening game. Rakshitha, then fought back in the second game and levelled the match at 1-1. Ashmita stayed calm under pressure and raised her intensity in the deciding game to close out the match 21-13.
Ashmita’s journey to the final has been equally impressive. In the quarter-finals, she produced a stunning performance to defeat Japan’s top seed Hina Akechi 20-22, 21-15, 21-19.
Rakshitha, on the other hand, entered the semi-finals after beating Chinese Taipei Open champion Tanvi Sharma in another three-game battle.
Ashmita will now face China’s Han Qianxi in the final and will aim to finish her campaign with the Korea Masters title.
