Srinagar, 25th Oct. Security forces have launched a large-scale search operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gulmarg sector, following a terror attack on Thursday that claimed the lives of four people, including two soldiers, officials confirmed on Friday.
The combing and search efforts are concentrated around the site of the attack, with security forces sealing the surrounding routes. The operation aims to trace and neutralize the terrorists responsible for the attack, using both human and technical intelligence inputs. Senior officers from the police and Army are overseeing the ongoing mission.
The attack occurred in the Bota Pathri area of Baramulla district, approximately six kilometers from the popular tourist destination of Gulmarg. Terrorists opened fire on an Army vehicle traveling toward the Nagin post in the Afrawat range, killing two soldiers and two Army porters. One soldier and a porter were also injured in the assault.
The area, dominated by the Army, has recently been the subject of reports indicating that a terrorist group may have infiltrated the higher reaches of the Afrawat range earlier this summer. Authorities believe that the attackers may have taken shelter there.
Bota Pathri, which had recently opened to tourists, is located near the prestigious High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS), a training ground for Army personnel preparing for deployment in the challenging conditions of the Siachen Glacier.
The security operation is expected to continue as forces work to neutralize the threat and restore stability in the region.
