India added three more medals to their tally at the ISSF Junior World Championships in Suhl, Germany, on Monday.
In the men’s 10m air pistol category, Shiva Narwal won the silver medal after scoring 239.1 in a closely-fought final, while Yug Pratap Singh Rathore secured the bronze medal after scoring 217.5. Poland’s Ivan Rakitski took the gold medal.
Yug started the final strong and was among the leading contenders in the early stages. However, as the competition progressed, Shiva moved closer and eventually finished second. Yug finished third which gave India a double podium finish in the event.
India also had Harshraj Singh in the final after an excellent performance in the qualification round. He was among the the top-ranked shooters in the qualification round, but could not convert it into a medal and finished sixth on the points table scoring 156.0.
India earned another medal in the men’s 10m air pistol team event as Shiva, Sandeep Bishnoi and Chirag Sharma together won the silver medal after a strong performance in the group event. India scored 1717-49x, while Poland claimed the gold medal and Republic of Korea finished third.
With three more medals on Day 5, India continue to be one of the best-performing nations of the championship. In the last edition of the tournament, India finished at the top of the medals tally with 24 medals, which included 13 golds, three silvers and eight bronzes.
