Manchester Super Giants fell 41 runs short against Sunrisers Leeds in Manchester and failed to qualify for the Eliminator, bringing their Women’s Hundred campaign to an end.
In a must-win clash, Super Giants were chasing 167 but failed to build any significant partnerships. Smriti Mandhana (28 off 17), Richa Ghosh (13 off 14) and skipper Meg Lanning (10 off 15) could not make a telling contribution as the home side faltered when it mattered most.
Interestingly, the result also confirmed an unwanted record for Super Giants, as they remained winless throughout the tournament at home.
Across four matches at Old Trafford, they lost three, while the other was abandoned due to rain. What was expected to become a fortress for Super Giants instead turned into their biggest curse this season.

However, Manchester Super Giants could not make the most of that advantage this season, and their struggles at Old Trafford ultimately proved costly.
For Sunrisers Leeds, star Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland delivered a complete performance. She first smashed an unbeaten 62 off 36 balls at a strike rate of 172.22 to take her team beyond the 160-run mark, with three consecutive sixes to finish the innings providing the highlight.
She then returned with the ball to pick up two wickets and played a crucial role in Sunrisers’ emphatic victory.
Sunrisers Leeds will now face Southern Brave in the Eliminator at The Oval on August 14.
