Mysuru: Urban Development Minister Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah visited the famous Chamundi Hill in Mysuru on Wednesday for the first time after assuming office and offered special prayers to the presiding deity, Goddess Sri Chamundeshwari Devi.

The minister sought the blessings of the Goddess for good rainfall, a prosperous agricultural season and the overall welfare of the people of Karnataka.

First visit after assuming office

Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah visited the Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hill as part of his maiden official visit after taking charge as the state’s Urban Development Minister.

Temple authorities welcomed the minister and facilitated special prayers at the shrine, one of Karnataka’s most revered pilgrimage centres.

Prayers for farmers and prosperity

Speaking after offering prayers, the minister said he prayed for timely rains and a bountiful harvest across Karnataka.

He also sought the blessings of Goddess Sri Chamundeshwari for the prosperity, peace and well-being of farmers and citizens throughout the state.

The visit comes at a time when several parts of Karnataka are closely monitoring the progress of the monsoon, with agriculture remaining heavily dependent on adequate rainfall.

Accompanied by local leader

The minister interacted briefly with devotees and temple officials before concluding his visit.

Chamundi Hill, overlooking Mysuru city, attracts lakhs of devotees every year and holds special significance during the Ashada month and the annual Mysuru Dasara celebrations.
