Elon Musk says robots could bring ‘amazing abundance for all'

Published:

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has said that the future could bring “amazing abundance for all”, suggesting that advances in artificial intelligence and humanoid robots may eventually create a world where resources and services become widely accessible.

Musk made the remarks on social media platform X while responding to a post discussing the potential capabilities of humanoid robots in the coming decades.

Musk envisions a future powered by robots

The original post claimed that five million humanoid robots could rebuild the island of Manhattan in six months and speculated about a future with 10 billion such robots by 2045.

Responding to the post, Musk wrote: “Amazing abundance for all!”

The comment is widely seen as reflecting Musk’s long-held belief that artificial intelligence and robotics could dramatically increase productivity and improve living standards across the world.

Tesla’s growing focus on humanoid robots

Musk’s remarks come as Tesla reportedly seeks to strengthen its long-term strategy around artificial intelligence and robotics.

The company has been developing the Tesla Optimus humanoid robot, which is designed to perform repetitive and labour-intensive tasks in factories and eventually assist people in their daily lives.

Reports also suggest that Tesla has filed a trademark application for the phrase “Amazing Abundance”, indicating that the term could become part of the company’s future branding and promotional efforts.

‘Money will stop being relevant’

Musk has repeatedly argued that advances in AI and robotics could usher in an era of unprecedented prosperity.

At the 2026 Abundance Summit, he suggested that artificial intelligence and robots would eventually produce so many goods and services that humanity would have fewer traditional jobs to perform.

“We’re going to have universal high income. We’ll basically just issue money to people. AI and robots are going to make so much stuff and provide so many services that they’ll run out of things to do for humans,” Musk said.

He also predicted that “money will stop being relevant at some point in the future.”

According to Musk’s vision, the abundance created by AI-driven production could lower the cost of goods and services and make high living standards more accessible to everyone.

AI’s impact on jobs continues to grow

While Musk’s predictions focus on a future of abundance, concerns remain over the impact of AI on employment.

Several major technology companies, including Amazon, Meta and Oracle, have reduced their workforce in recent years while increasing investments in artificial intelligence.

The rapid adoption of AI technologies has fuelled debates about automation, job displacement and the future of work.

Competition in humanoid robotics intensifies

Tesla is not the only company pursuing humanoid robotics.

Chinese companies such as Unitree Robotics have showcased increasingly sophisticated robots capable of performing complex tasks.

US-based robotics startup Figure AI has also been making headlines, with its chief executive recently predicting that robots would eventually outperform humans in many activities.

Although humanoid robots are still in the early stages of commercial adoption, Musk’s latest remarks underline his belief that artificial intelligence and robotics could fundamentally transform economies and society in the decades ahead.
