Yuvraj Singh Set to Coach Delhi Capitals in IPL 2027

Published:

Yuvraj Singh, the former India international, is expected to coach Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 season.

The cricketing legend has helped shape and nurture some of the most explosive talents in the game today, notably Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. He has also worked closely with Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson and Priyansh Arya, among others.

DC, under the leadership of Axar Patel, possess considerable star power with players such as KL Rahul, Mitchell Starc and Sameer Rizvi. However, they struggled during their 2026 campaign, finishing sixth with seven wins from 14 matches. The team also made history for the wrong reasons, registering the lowest powerplay score in IPL history 13/6 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Additionally, DC’s failure to qualify for the playoffs in both the 2025 and 2026 seasons put current head coach Hemang Badani’s position under scrutiny. As a result, Yuvraj is expected to be brought in to help rebuild and strengthen the squad for the upcoming season, alongside Sourav Ganguly, who serves as Director of Cricket.

A former member of the Delhi Daredevils, Yuvraj’s illustrious career — including his iconic six sixes in an over at the World T20 in 2007 — adds significant weight to his potential appointment. His presence in the coaching set-up could prove immensely beneficial as the franchise aims to secure its maiden IPL title in 2027.
