Bahraich, 15th Oct. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to meet with the family of Ram Gopal Mishra, the 22-year-old man killed in recent communal violence in Bahraich district. The meeting, scheduled for Tuesday in Lucknow, follows the tragic incident that occurred two days prior during a Durga idol immersion procession.

BJP MLA from Mahsi, Sureshwar Singh, confirmed that Mishra’s family, including his wife Roli, father Kailash Nath, mother Munni Devi, and cousin Kishan, would demand justice during the meeting. Roli Mishra expressed her desire for those responsible for her husband’s death to face severe punishment, stating, “They should be punished the same way they killed my husband.”

Singh assured the family that they would receive more than they expect from the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Deepak Kumar reported that the situation in Bahraich is currently under control.

The communal violence erupted in the Maharajganj area, resulting in Mishra’s death and injuries to several others from stone pelting and gunfire. Following the incident, tensions escalated, leading to property damage, including burnt shops, as hundreds participated in Mishra’s funeral procession, demanding justice.

In response to the unrest, authorities have suspended internet services in the district as a precautionary measure. The last rites for Mishra were conducted amid heavy security to prevent further disturbances.
