The Rajasthan Royals (RR) teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi turned his IPL 2026 campaign into a historic achievement by sweeping five of the tournament’s biggest individual honours following the RCB vs GT final. The 15-year-old sensation became the youngest player in IPL history to win the Orange Cap, amassing 776 runs, and was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament. He also scooped up the Emerging Player of the Season award, followed by the Super Striker award after scoring at a staggering strike rate of 237. Last but not least, he also won the Super Sixes award, having smashed 72 sixes during the season.
Despite his remarkable success, Vaibhav remained humble during the post-match presentation, saying, “We’ll try to do well next year.” He also admitted that he was feeling good but under pressure while giving the interview. Although he has received widespread praise for his spectacular performances this season, he has remained grounded while reflecting on his journey. He said, “I try to back my game and if I think I can hit the first ball, I go all out.”
Reflecting on the lessons he learned during the campaign, he added, “I learnt you can’t go all out all the time and how to play under pressure, read situations and play to the requirements of the team.” His comments highlighted his growing maturity and his ability to balance aggressive instincts with the demands of different match situations.
Looking ahead, the teenager identified fitness as a key area for improvement, saying, “I have to work on fitness and stay away from injuries.” He also expressed his gratitude to the Rajasthan Royals setup, stating, “RR is supportive, senior players and support staff back me, it’s a nice environment.”
