India’s young wrestling sensation Sujeet Kalkal has etched his name in the history books by winning the country’s first-ever gold medal at the Under-23 World Wrestling Championship 2025, held in Tirana, Albania. The 22-year-old grappler delivered a series of dominant performances in the 65kg freestyle category, defeating wrestlers from Iran, the United States, and Georgia before clinching the gold in a thrilling final bout.
Sujeet’s victory marks a significant milestone for Indian wrestling, which has been steadily rising on the global stage. His gold medal not only adds to India’s growing tally of international wrestling honors but also inspires the next generation of athletes aiming to shine at the Olympics and World Championships.
