Global automaker Toyota Motor Corporation has announced plans to introduce 15 new vehicles in India by 2030, as part of its long-term strategy to expand its product portfolio and strengthen its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing automobile markets.
Diverse Lineup for Indian Market
The new lineup will include two all-new SUVs, a pickup truck, and several hybrid and electric vehicles, designed to meet the evolving preferences of Indian consumers. Toyota said the expansion will focus on sustainability, localization, and innovation, in line with India’s push toward green mobility.
“India is a key market for Toyota’s global growth strategy. Our upcoming models will combine advanced technology with local adaptability to meet customer needs across segments,” said a senior Toyota India executive.
Focus on Electrification and Local Manufacturing
Toyota is investing heavily in hybrid and electric technologies, with plans to produce several models locally at its Bidadi plant in Karnataka. The company will also increase local sourcing of components, including batteries and powertrains, to reduce costs and support the government’s Make in India initiative.
Industry experts expect Toyota’s future portfolio to include compact EVs, hybrid sedans, and utility-focused SUVs, catering to both urban and rural markets. The introduction of a pickup truck will mark Toyota’s entry into a segment currently dominated by lifestyle vehicles like the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
Expanding Market Presence
The announcement aligns with Toyota’s broader plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and strengthen its foothold in emerging economies. The brand has already seen strong demand for its Hyryder hybrid SUV and Innova Hycross, both of which showcase Toyota’s hybrid leadership.
“With this product expansion, Toyota aims to double its market share in India by the end of the decade,” analysts said.
Outlook
The first phase of new model launches is expected to begin in 2026, starting with a mid-size SUV co-developed with Maruti Suzuki. Toyota’s strategy signals confidence in India’s growing automotive ecosystem and the shift toward cleaner mobility solutions.
