India’s tour of Sri Lanka in August could have three T20Is as well, along with two Tests that are part of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. According to a top BCCI official, talks are ongoing between the two cricket boards to incorporate three T20Is into the itinerary. At the moment, it’s just a two-Test series, with the first match starting on August 15.

“Yes, three T20Is could be added to the roster,” said the BCCI official. “We have been discussing this and a decision will be taken soon.” He also informed that Nepal might be hosting India A going ahead. A request in this regard has been received from the Nepal Cricket Association.

Meanwhile, a three-member committee has been formed to look into the retirement policy, something that the BCCI’s Apex Council discussed at its meeting last Thursday. It was reportedly discussed that a five-year bar should be enforced on returning to playing for India if a player retires and goes to play in a league outside the BCCI ambit, and then comes back from the retirement.

“We have nothing against the other leagues, but we have to safeguard the interest of our own league,” said the BCCI official.
