Tata Motors Group Breaks Ground on New Passenger Vehicle Manufacturing Facility in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu, 28th September. Tata Motors Group held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new passenger vehicle (PV) manufacturing facility at Panapakkam in Tamil Nadu’s Ranipet district. The facility will produce next-generation models for Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), catering to both domestic and international markets.

The plant, expected to generate over 5,000 jobs, will run entirely on renewable energy. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin welcomed Tata Motors, highlighting the Tata Group’s long-standing contribution to the state’s industrial development.

With an investment of nearly Rs 9,000 crore, the facility is designed to have an annual production capacity exceeding 250,000 units, ramping up over the next 5-7 years. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran emphasized the plant’s focus on advanced manufacturing technologies and sustainability practices, with a strong commitment to empowering women employees.
