In a significant administrative development, the Government of Tamil Nadu has officially announced the allocation of portfolios and subject responsibilities for the newly sworn-in Council of Ministers under the leadership of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. The allocations were approved by the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu following recommendations from the Chief Minister.
According to the official press release issued from Lok Bhavan, Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will directly oversee several critical departments including Public Administration, Home, Police, Women Welfare, Youth Welfare, Municipal Administration, and Water Supply, reflecting a strong emphasis on governance, public administration, and social welfare.
Key Ministerial Allocations Include:
- N. Anand has been appointed Minister for Rural Development and Water Resources, handling irrigation projects, panchayats, and rural poverty alleviation.
- Aadhav Arjuna takes charge as Minister for Public Works and Sports Development, overseeing highways, buildings, ports, and sports infrastructure.
- Dr. K.G. Arunraj has been entrusted with the Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare portfolio, a crucial ministry amid increasing focus on healthcare modernization.
- Veteran leader K.A. Sengottaiyan assumes the Finance Ministry, including pensions and pension allowances.
- P. Venkataramanan will oversee Food and Civil Supplies, consumer protection, and price control mechanisms.
- R. Nirmalkumar has been allocated the Energy Resources and Law Ministry, covering electricity, non-conventional energy development, prisons, legislative assembly affairs, and elections.
- Rajmohan will lead the School Education, Tamil Development, Information and Publicity portfolio, also managing film technology, cinematography regulations, and government press operations.
- Importantly for the industrial and mining sectors, Dr. TK. Prabhu has been appointed Minister for Natural Resources with charge of the Minerals and Mines Department, while Selvi S. Keerthana takes charge as Minister for Industries and Investment Promotion.
