Chennai: Actor-turned-politician and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay celebrated his 52nd birthday on Sunday, receiving wishes from political leaders, film personalities and fans from across the country.
The birthday holds special significance as it marks Vijay’s first birthday since assuming office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and leading the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government.
Social media platforms were flooded with greetings, with several celebrities describing this year’s celebrations as different from previous birthdays due to Vijay’s new political role.
Kamal Haasan and Khushbu lead birthday wishes
Actor and politician Kamal Haasan extended his greetings in Tamil, describing Vijay as a beloved younger brother who had won the affection of millions.
“Heartfelt birthday wishes to the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, President of the Vijay Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, and beloved younger brother Vijay, who has captured the love of millions of hearts,” Kamal wrote on social media.
Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar also wished Vijay good health and happiness, calling him her “brother” and praying for his continued success.
Meanwhile, veteran actor Mohanlal wished the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister a life filled with health, happiness and peace.
Celebrities say this birthday is different
Actor Vishal noted that this year’s birthday celebrations were unlike previous years when Vijay’s birthdays were usually marked by film announcements and promotional events.
He expressed hope that the Chief Minister would bring meaningful changes to Tamil Nadu and wished him success in governance.
Actor and choreographer Raghava Lawrence echoed similar sentiments, saying he was especially happy to wish Vijay as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and prayed for his continued success.
Actor Sibi Sathyaraj said fans missed the movie-related announcements that traditionally accompanied Vijay’s birthday but added that the state’s progress under his leadership had made the occasion even more meaningful.
Director N. Lingusamy compared Vijay’s journey to a blockbuster film, saying that while the first half had been filled with entertainment, the second half would focus on action and public service.
Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar also wished Vijay a long and successful tenure as Chief Minister.
Fans await Trisha’s birthday wish
Amid the flood of birthday greetings, fans on social media noticed the absence of a birthday message from actress Trisha Krishnan, who has regularly wished Vijay on his birthday in previous years.
Several users on X, formerly Twitter, posted messages expressing surprise and curiosity over the absence of a public greeting from the actress.
Some fans even shared screenshots of Trisha’s earlier birthday messages for Vijay and speculated about whether she would post a greeting later in the day.

Vijay has been married to Sangeeta Sornalingam since 1998, and the couple have two children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha.
