Former India fielding coach T Dilip bid an emotional farewell to the team after his five-year stint came to an end. Subhadeep Ghosh has replaced him as the new fielding coach and will join the squad for the upcoming two-Test series in Sri Lanka starting on August 15.
Dilip joined the team Indian set-up in November 2021 and now he will leave the after the BCCI decided not to renew his contract.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Dilip reflected on his journey and acknowledge everyone who has supported him. “Five years. It’s difficult to find the right words for a journey that has meant so much,” he wrote. “When I first walked into this set-up, I came in with one simple intention, to give everything I had every single day. Fielding has always been my way of contributing to the game I love, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have played a part in this team’s journey.”
During Dilip’s tenure, India won two T20 World Cups (2024 and 2026), the ICC Champions Trophy (2025), and two Asia Cups (2023 and 2025), while finishing runner-up in the 2023 ODI World Cup and the World Test Championship.
Dilip also thanked the BCCI, former head coach Rahul Dravid, current head coach Gautam Gambhir, the captains with whom he has worked, players, coaches, and support staff for their trust and support.
He concluded his note with: “As this chapter comes to a close, I’ll always be grateful that for five unforgettable years, I had the honour of wearing the India badge. Forever grateful. The journey continues.”
