Swami Vivekananda Digital Journalism Conclave & National Excellence Awards 2026 Concludes in New Delhi with a Call for Responsible, Ethical and Future-Ready Digital Journalism

Constitution Club of India hosts national dialogue on Artificial Intelligence, journalism, law, technology, ethics and self-regulation

New Delhi, 30 September 2026: The Ramakrishna Parmahansa Foundation (RPF) successfully organised the Swami Vivekananda Digital Journalism Conclave & National Excellence Awards 2026 at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, bringing together distinguished voices from spirituality, diplomacy, public administration, journalism, law, technology, public policy and civil society.

The Conclave was centred on the theme “Building a Responsible, Ethical & Future-Ready Digital Media Ecosystem through Law, Technology, Innovation & Self-Regulation.” The event examined some of the most pressing questions facing journalism and public communication in an era increasingly shaped by Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, social media and emerging digital technologies.

A key message emerging from the discussions was that while technology is transforming the tools and speed of journalism, truth, credibility, ethics and responsibility must remain at the core of news and public communication.

Swami Atmapriyananda Ji Maharaj highlights the convergence of Science, Spirituality and Technology

One of the defining moments of the Conclave was the address by Revered Swami Atmapriyananda Ji Maharaj, Pro-Chancellor of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI).

With his background as a monk, teacher and scientist, including a PhD in Theoretical Physics, Swami Atmapriyananda Ji brought a unique perspective to discussions on the future of knowledge and human communication. His address touched upon Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and the emerging possibilities of Quantum Science.

His reflections highlighted the need for technological progress to be accompanied by discernment, character, responsibility and a deeper understanding of the human being. The address also explored the relationship between scientific inquiry and the philosophical traditions represented by Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa and Swami Vivekananda.

Akhilesh Mishra brings diplomatic and global perspective

The Conclave also featured a keynote address by Shri Akhilesh Mishra, IFS (Retd.), former Ambassador and former Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

Drawing upon his experience in diplomacy and international cultural engagement, Shri Mishra discussed communication in the wider context of India’s engagement with the world. His participation underlined the importance of accuracy, cultural understanding, credibility and responsible communication in an interconnected digital environment where information can cross borders within seconds.

K.P. Venkateshwara Rao, IPS addresses digital responsibility

Shri K.P. Venkateshwara Rao, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Madhya Pradesh Police, brought the perspective of public administration and law enforcement to the Conclave.

His address focused on the rapidly evolving digital information ecosystem and the challenges associated with misinformation, cyber misuse and the speed at which information is disseminated through social media and digital publishing.

The discussions emphasised the importance of balancing technological innovation and freedom of communication with accountability, verification, awareness and responsible digital conduct.

Grassroots perspective adds another dimension

The Conclave also heard from Shri Vijay Singh Bainsla, President, Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, who brought the perspective of grassroots leadership and citizen participation to the national discussion.

The session highlighted how India’s digital transformation has created new opportunities for communities to raise concerns, participate in public discourse and bring local issues into wider conversations. It also emphasised the responsibility of journalism to represent voices from towns, villages and communities with context, accuracy and sensitivity.

Artificial Intelligence and the future of journalism

Throughout the Conclave, participants examined the profound changes taking place in journalism as a result of Artificial Intelligence, automated content generation, social-media platforms, misinformation, changing audience behaviour and emerging digital business models.

The discussions underscored that the future of journalism will depend not only on technological adoption but also on how responsibly digital tools are used.

The central message was clear: technology may transform journalism’s tools, but credibility will continue to depend upon truth, ethics and responsibility.

Swami Vivekananda National Excellence Awards 2026

The event also hosted the Swami Vivekananda National Excellence Awards 2026, recognising distinguished contributions across journalism, communication, public service, law, public policy, professional excellence and other areas of national and social significance.

The awards were conceived in the spirit of Swami Vivekananda’s emphasis on character, service, excellence and nation-building.

Book “Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita — As I Have Understood” released

Another significant highlight of the programme was the release of “Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita — As I Have Understood,” authored by Shri Ashim Kumar Mukherjee.

The publication seeks to engage contemporary readers with the spiritual conversations and universal teachings associated with Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa through the author’s understanding and reflections. Its release connected the Foundation’s spiritual inspiration with the contemporary discussions on journalism, science, technology and ethics.

RPF reiterates commitment to ethical public discourse

The Ramakrishna Parmahansa Foundation, a Kolkata-based registered charitable trust working in public policy advocacy, media research and social development, seeks to encourage responsible public discourse, independent and ethical journalism, media innovation, research, education and socially meaningful initiatives.

Through the Swami Vivekananda Digital Journalism Conclave & National Excellence Awards 2026, the Foundation created a platform for dialogue between spirituality, ethics and contemporary developments in Artificial Intelligence, digital journalism, law, technology, governance and communication.

The successful conclusion of the Conclave reinforced the view that discussions about the future of media must extend beyond technology and include truth, character, knowledge, responsibility and service.
