Bhadohi, 18th Sept. Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Zahid Beg’s son, Zaim Beg, was arrested on Wednesday evening in connection with the suicide of a minor girl, police confirmed. This arrest comes amid an ongoing investigation into two cases involving the MLA and his wife, alleging forced child labour and incitement to suicide.
Bhadohi Superintendent of Police Meenakshi Katyayan stated that the investigation revealed the minor girl had been subjected to forced labour and had expressed a desire to escape prior to her death. Zaim Beg is implicated in these matters.
Zaim Beg was apprehended in the Makhdoompur area, near the Bhadohi-Jaunpur border, and is now facing legal proceedings. The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, which initiated the investigation following the girl’s death, also rescued a 17-year-old girl working at the MLA’s residence.
A case has been registered against Zahid Beg and his wife Seema Beg under section 108 of the Bonded Labour System (Prohibition) Act. Additionally, the labour department has begun proceedings against them.
