The National Shooting Trials at the Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi witnessed three finals, with some strong performances and a few contrasting storylines as shooters continued to make their case ahead of the Asian Games.
In the men’s 10m air pistol final, Ravin Kumar produced an exceptional performance to finish at the top. Ravin remained consistent throughout the competition and eventually signed off with a total of 244.6 points. Yogesh Kumar followed in second with 242.0, while Aditya Mal finished third with 222.2. Aditya had started strongly and spent a large part of the series at the top before slipping down the standings towards the end.
The biggest highlight of the day, however, came in the women’s 50m rifle 3P final. Sift Kaur Samra, the 2023 Asian Games gold medallist, put together a stellar performance to finish first, ending her final 8.8 points clear of the shooter in second place. It was a particularly impressive showing from Sift, who has had to deal with the setback of missing out on the Asian Games squad this time around due to lower averages. Her performance on the day was another reminder of the quality and consistency that have made her one of India’s leading shooters.
Asian Games-bound Tilottama Sen finished third in the same event. She had occupied second position for much of the competition but eventually slipped to third.
In the men’s 50m rifle 3P final, Asian Games-bound Rudrankksh Patil finished third with 344.6 points. Patil started brilliantly and was on top for much of the early stages but found the elimination rounds more challenging. Still, the performance marked an improvement after his disappointing outing in the 10m air rifle category.
