Reliance Jio Users Flood X with Network and Service Complaints Across India

Published:

Mumbai: Telecom giant Reliance Jio, India’s largest mobile network provider, is facing widespread backlash on social media after thousands of users took to X (formerly Twitter) to report poor network connectivity, slow internet speeds, and frequent call drops across several states.

The hashtag #JioDown began trending nationwide early Saturday morning as frustrated customers from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Patna complained about complete service outages and erratic data speeds. Many users also reported being unable to make calls or access customer support through the Jio app or helpline.

One user wrote, “No signal for hours in South Delhi. Can’t make calls or use data. @JioCare, are you even listening?” Another user from Mumbai shared a screenshot showing zero upload speed, tagging the company’s official handle.

Reliance Jio has acknowledged the issue, responding to multiple user complaints on X. The company said, “We regret the inconvenience caused. Some customers are experiencing intermittent service issues due to a temporary technical glitch. Our teams are working on it and services will be restored soon.”

While the company has not issued an official statement about the cause, sources within the telecom industry suggest that a backend server or fiber link disruption may have affected parts of the Jio network.

According to Downdetector India, an independent outage monitoring platform, there was a sharp spike in Jio-related complaints between 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., with over 12,000 user reports at its peak.

Jio, which serves over 460 million subscribers, has been one of India’s most dominant telecom players since its launch in 2016. However, frequent complaints about data reliability and customer support delays have surfaced periodically on social media.

As of Saturday evening, many users reported gradual restoration of services, though some regions continued to face disruptions. The incident has reignited discussions on telecom service quality, with consumers urging the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to establish stricter service benchmarks and real-time outage reporting mechanisms.
