Ramayana First Look To Debut At SDCC On July 23

Published:

San Diego: Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is set for a major global showcase as the makers prepare to unveil the film’s first look at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) on July 23, marking the mythological epic’s international debut.

According to the official SDCC schedule, Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra will participate in a special panel at Ballroom 20, one of the convention’s largest venues. The session is scheduled to begin at 3:15 pm PDT (3:15 am IST) and will feature an exclusive presentation of the film.

The event marks a significant milestone for the ambitious project, which is being positioned as one of the biggest cinematic productions in Indian film history. Ballroom 20, with a seating capacity of around 4,800, regularly hosts presentations from major Hollywood studios and global entertainment franchises.

The official Comic-Con panel description introduces Ramayana as an epic tale of duty, sacrifice and the battle between good and evil.

“In an age of gods and kings, the fate of worlds hangs in the balance. Rama, a prince bound by duty, sacrifice, and the greater good, must face Ravana, an immortal ruler driven by pride and vengeance, powerful enough to shatter the cosmos,” the description reads.

The panel will also feature producer Namit Malhotra, founder of Prime Focus and Global CEO of DNEG, alongside lead actors Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Rama, and Yash, who portrays Ravana, with director Nitesh Tiwari discussing the making of the film and presenting its first official footage.

Star-Studded Cast

Ramayana boasts an ensemble cast featuring Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, alongside several other prominent actors.

Backed by Namit Malhotra, the film aims to bring the ancient Indian epic to a global audience with large-scale visual effects and international production values.

Two-Part Release

The mythological saga is planned as a two-part franchise. The first instalment is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release, while the second part is expected to arrive during Diwali 2027.

The San Diego Comic-Con presentation is expected to kick off the film’s global promotional campaign ahead of its release next year.
