New Delhi, 25th Sept. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Pune, Maharashtra, on September 26, to inaugurate, lay foundation stones, and dedicate various projects worth over ₹22,600 crore. At around 6 PM, PM Modi will flag off the Metro train from District Court to Swargate, marking the completion of Phase-1 of the Pune Metro Rail Project, including its underground section, costing approximately ₹1,810 crore.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the 5.46 km Swargate-Katraj extension of Pune Metro Phase-1, worth ₹2,950 crore. Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation for a memorial commemorating Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s First Girls’ School at Bhidewada.
A key highlight of the visit will be the dedication of three indigenously developed PARAM Rudra Supercomputers worth ₹130 crore under the National Supercomputing Mission. These supercomputers, deployed in Pune, Delhi, and Kolkata, aim to boost research in fields like astrophysics, material science, and cosmology.
Moreover, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a ₹850 crore High-Performance Computing (HPC) system for advanced weather and climate research. Named ‘Arka’ and ‘Arunika,’ this system will enhance India’s weather forecasting capabilities.
PM Modi will also launch projects in the petroleum and natural gas sector worth ₹10,400 crore, focusing on cleaner energy, truck driver convenience, and sustainable infrastructure. These include 1,000 way-side amenities for drivers, 4,000 energy stations offering multiple fuel types, and 500 EV charging facilities. Plans for 10,000 more EV charging stations and 50 LNG stations across India are also in the pipeline.
The inauguration of Solapur Airport and the dedication of the 7,855-acre Bidkin Industrial Area, developed under the National Industrial Corridor Development Program, will further enhance regional connectivity and economic potential.
