Actor and singer Paris Jackson has hit back at critics after facing online backlash for performing on June 25 — the anniversary of her father Michael Jackson’s death.
Paris, 27, is currently touring with alternative rock bands Incubus and Manchester Orchestra. One of the scheduled tour stops is in Nashville on June 25, marking 16 years since the King of Pop passed away at the age of 50.
Paris Responds to Critics
In a now-expired Instagram Story video that has since circulated widely on social media, Paris addressed the criticism directly.
“So people are mad again,” she began. “I guess one of the tour dates I’m supposed to be going out on tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra happens to be June 25, which is a very negative anniversary for me in my life and my family.”
She defended her choice to perform, stating that she viewed the opportunity to tour with Incubus as a privilege. “This feels like [Incubus is] doing me a favor by bringing me out on tour. So, what — I’m gonna tell them, ‘Sorry, guys, we can’t perform on this date?’”
Paris concluded her message bluntly, saying, “F**k you” to those criticizing her decision.
Not the First Time She’s Spoken Out
This isn’t the first time Paris Jackson has addressed public scrutiny over how she chooses to remember her father. In August 2023, she explained her decision not to post about what would have been Michael Jackson’s 65th birthday.
“Back when he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday,” she said in a video at the time. “He didn’t want us to even know when his birthday was because he didn’t want a party or anything like that.”
Paris has consistently stood her ground in choosing personal ways to honour her father, regardless of public expectations.
