Jammu &Kashmir, 28th September National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during his campaign for the third phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls. Abdullah accused the BJP of relying on “lies and cheating” to win votes, stating the party has done nothing for the union territory over the past 10 years. He claimed the BJP is misleading voters by focusing on issues like religion, terrorism, and familism, instead of addressing their governance record.

Abdullah also challenged the BJP on Article 371, questioning why it hasn’t been removed from other states, similar to how Article 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir. He pointed out that if the BJP seeks equality, it should be applied to all states under Article 371.

“As they said everything will be fine in time, why can’t they just remove 371 from the states where they are being implemented? As they did to Jammu and Kashmir to make the state equal, then they should also do it for states where 371 is being implemented. Why aren’t they doing that? Is equality only for Jammu and Kashmir? The other states also deserve to be equal… It is good that JP Nadda said in time this will also be done; then I would also like to hear from the Prime Minister when the other states will also be given equal states,” Abdullah added.

The Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections are being held in three phases, with voting set to conclude on October 1, and results announced on October 8.
