Nine-year-old boy dies after being locked inside car in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: A nine-year-old boy died of suffocation after reportedly getting locked inside a car parked in front of his house at Pethikuttai near Sirumugai in Coimbatore district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as V. Mukund, son of Velumani and Sumathi, residents of Pethikuttai.

Boy reportedly entered car while playing

According to police, Mukund was playing near his house when he entered the car parked outside the residence.

The child reportedly became trapped inside the vehicle after the doors were locked. Police said he later died of suffocation.

The incident has left the family and local residents shocked, with the circumstances serving as a tragic reminder of the dangers children can face when playing around parked vehicles.

Police investigate incident

Police have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
