Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the newly launched Safran Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility will significantly strengthen India’s position as a global aviation hub. The facility, established by French aerospace major Safran, marks a major milestone in India’s rapidly expanding aviation ecosystem.
The Prime Minister highlighted that India is not only one of the fastest-growing aviation markets but is also becoming a preferred destination for high-end aerospace investments. The Safran MRO centre is expected to enhance operational efficiency, reduce aircraft downtime for airlines, and bring advanced technological expertise to the country.
The facility will support a wide range of commercial aircraft engines, offering world-class repair and maintenance services within India. This move is expected to reduce dependence on overseas MRO centres, helping airlines save costs and improve turnaround times.
PM Modi emphasised that the project aligns with India’s commitment to self-reliance in the aviation sector and will generate employment opportunities for skilled professionals. He added that global companies choosing India for aerospace operations reflects the confidence in the country’s business environment and long-term growth potential.
