BALOTRA, 4th July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday dedicated, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth around ₹1.06 lakh crore in Rajasthan, saying New India has emerged stronger by overcoming the biggest energy crisis of the 21st century through timely decisions, strategic planning and public trust.
Addressing a public gathering in Balotra, Modi dedicated the Rajasthan Refinery to the nation and described it as a major milestone in India’s journey towards self-reliance. He said the project would generate thousands of employment opportunities while strengthening the country’s energy security and industrial growth.
The Prime Minister said, “New India neither backs away from its resolves nor slows its momentum,” adding that the country’s ability to navigate the recent global energy crisis reflected decisive governance, balanced resource management and effective diplomacy.
Highlighting infrastructure development in Rajasthan, Modi said the inauguration of the new airport terminal in Jodhpur, expansion of the Jaipur Metro and other connectivity projects would boost tourism, trade and employment across the state. He also announced that nearly 54,000 appointment letters had been distributed to newly recruited government employees in Rajasthan.
Referring to disruptions caused by conflicts in West Asia, the Prime Minister said India successfully managed fuel supplies by diversifying imports, increasing domestic LPG production and protecting consumers from steep price hikes. He said the government absorbed losses exceeding ₹75,000 crore between April and June while keeping domestic LPG and fuel prices under control.
Modi said India’s refinery infrastructure played a key role in addressing the crisis, adding that the country has now become the world’s fourth-largest refining nation. He credited policy reforms and strategic investments for strengthening India’s energy resilience.
The Prime Minister also announced that Rajasthan and Haryana have finalised an agreement to supply water to the Shekhawati region through an underground pipeline from the Hathnikund Barrage. The project is expected to benefit residents of Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu and adjoining areas.
Highlighting the government’s focus on renewable energy, Modi said Rajasthan has emerged as a major clean energy hub with rapid expansion of solar parks, PM Surya Ghar installations and PM Kusum solar pump projects. He added that large-scale water conservation initiatives are also being implemented across the state.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the new infrastructure, energy and connectivity projects would accelerate Rajasthan’s development and contribute significantly to India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
