India is all set for another action-packed day at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow on Friday with medal hopes spread across athletics, boxing, judo, track cycling, and lawn bowls.
The day will begin with Tejaswin Shankar resuming his campaign in the men’s 110m hurdles at 3:00 p.m. IST before competing in discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and concluding with the 1500m race later in the evening. The final event of the decathlon campaign is scheduled for 1:05 a.m. IST, where the medals will be decided.
Indian boxing will once again be taking center stage as Preeti Pawar, Ankush Panghal, Jaismine Lamboria, Arundhati Choudhary, Jadumani Singh, Sakshi Choudhary, Priya Ghanghas, Lovlina Borgohain, Sachin Siwach and Narender Berwal will be competing against pugilists from Zambia, Canada, Lesotho, Wales, Namibia, among others. All the Indian boxers will be stepping into the ring with places in their respective finals at stake.
Judo action will also get underway in the afternoon with Harsh Singh, Shraddha Chopade, Rohit Basir Majgul, Asmita Dey, and Yamini Mourya all beginning their respective campaigns. They will compete against contestants from Malawi, Sierra Leone, Sierra Mozambique and Scotland, respectively. Should the Indian judokas progress through their opening contest, they will return later in the day for the subsequent rounds as they chase for the medals.
Alongside, India also has another busy day in athletics with mixed 4x400m relay quartet of Vishal TK, Rajesh Ramesh, Rashdeep Kaur and Neeru Pathak set to compete in the heats with an aim to qualify for the finals.
The spotlight will fall on the men’s javelin throw final, where the two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra will spearhead India’s medal challenge alongside Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh.
Furthermore, Indian athletes will be competing in three other medal events later at night. Yashas Palaksha and Santhosh Kumar Tamilarasan will feature in the men’s 400m hurdles final.
Track cycling presents another opportunity for India to claim medals as Dinesh Kumar and Harshveer Singh Sekhton will compete in the men’s 4000m individual pursuit. The pair will return for the final later in the evening, if they qualify.
In lawn bowls, Dinesh Kumar and Navneet Singh will compete against the Falkland Islands in the men’s pair sectional play. While in the women’s section, Nayanmoni Saikia will take on Zambia’s Mildred in the women’s single.
With medals on offer across athletics and track cycling, along with a packed schedule in boxing and judo throughout the day, July 31st promises to be one of India’s busiest days at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
