The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has named an 18-member squad for a month-long developmental tour of the United Kingdom that is scheduled from June 20 to July 15. Former India captain and Mumbai cricket legend Dilip Vengsarkar will visit the squad during select matches of the tour.
The tour will give a group of promising Mumbai cricketers the opportunity to gain experience outside India, with the team scheduled to play a combination of two-day and one-day matches during their visit.
The fixtures include games against county second XI sides, national county representative teams, and other professional opposition linked to Sussex, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Gloucestershire and Derbyshire.
Musheer Khan, Atharva Ankolekar, and Mohit Avasthi are among the players named in the travelling contingent, which will be tested in conditions significantly different from those at home. The tour is expected to provide valuable match exposure and help players further their development through competitive cricket.
MCA president Ajinkya Naik said, “The purpose of this tour goes beyond results. It is an opportunity for our young players to experience new environments, broaden their horizons, and grow both as cricketers and as individuals. Such exposure is invaluable in preparing them for future opportunities at the highest level of the game.
