Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed will join his Lanka Premier League (LPL) team, Jaffna Kings, after the completion of the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the news on Friday. Taskin is set to join the T20I squad as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman.
Earlier left out of the squad due to his LPL commitment, Taskin will now link up with Jaffna Kings later than originally planned. This development comes after Mustafizur was ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing tour after suffering a right hamstring strain during the opening ODI. He will return to Bangladesh to continue his rehabilitation.
“We allowed them to skip the Zimbabwe T20Is as Taskin and Litton were given NOCs to play in the LPL from the start. But as Mustafizur is out due to injury, we have included Taskin in the T20I squad. He will join the LPL after completing the T20Is against Zimbabwe,” BCB chief selector Habibul Bashar told Cricbuzz on Friday.
The other Bangladesh players bound for the LPL are expected to reach Sri Lanka before the start of the tournament on July 17. T20I captain Litton Das and ODI Mehidy Hasan Miraz are set to feature for Galle Gallants. Meanwhile, pace bowler Hasan Mahmud is expected to link up with Colombo Kaps after completing his stint with Kent in the ongoing T20 Blast.
Bangladesh legend Shakib Al Hasan will also take part in the LPL and will reunite with his countryman Taskin at Jaffna Kings.
