The Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, will host shooting at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. Built in 1993, it is one of Japan’s largest shooting facilities with dedicated ranges for rifle, pistol and clay shooting.
A major shooting facility
The shooting range is spread across a large site which includes rifle and pistol ranges with clay shooting facilities. Unlike a conventional stadium, the complex is designed around separate shooting ranges and competition areas.
For Aichi-Nagoya 2026, the shooting ranges have been renovated to host the Asian Games competition. The venue will also be used for shooting at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games.
Shooting in focus
All three major shooting disciplines will be held here — rifle, pistol and shotgun. The Asian Games programme includes competitions across individual, team and mixed-team formats.
The facility has different ranges for the various disciplines which will allow athletes to compete in a dedicated environment built specifically for shooting events.
Toyota City’s industrial identity
The venue is located in Toyota City, one of Aichi Prefecture’s best-known cities. The city was once known as Koromo but in 1959 it took the name Toyota and grew into a major centre of Japan’s automobile industry.
But Toyota City is not only about industry. The region is also known for its natural and cultural attractions, including Korankei Gorge, which is very popular during autumn.
More than an Asian Games venue
Apart from major international competitions, the shooting gallery serves as a competition and training facility. It hosts shooting events and provides dedicated spaces for athletes and sport shooters.
Its long history and large-scale facilities make it an important part of Japan’s shooting infrastructure.
How to reach the venue
Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery can easily be reached by train and bus. Public transport is recommended during the Asian Games due to road and parking restrictions around the venue.
By train: Take the JR Chuo Line from Nagoya Station to Kozoji Station, then change to the Aichi Loop Railway for Yakusa Station.
By bus: From Yakusa Station, take the shuttle bus to the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery.
