India enjoyed an impressive start to their 2026 campaign at the ISSF Junior World Championship in Suhl, Germany, winning eight medals across the first two days of the tournament.
The Indian contingent has claimed four gold, one silver and three bronze medals, highlighting the country’s strong performances at the junior international level.
On the opening day, Sejal Kamble won the women’s 10m air pistol gold medal with a score of 240.2 in the final. Himanshi, on the other hand, claimed bronze with 217.6, while Vanshika Chaudhary finished fourth with 191.3. India also secured gold in the women’s 10m air pistol team event, as Vanshika, Navya and Sanskriti Bana combined for a total score of 1700-46x.
India added four more medals on Friday. Sameer claimed gold in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event after scoring 28 points in the final and finishing one point ahead of France’s Arnaud Gamaleri. He also helped India secure bronze in the team event alongside Abhinav Choudhary and Sahil Choudhary, with a score of 1708-51x.
Rohit Kanyan won gold in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event with a final score of 355.9. He also joined Vedant Waghmare and Hithesh Srinivasan to win bronze in the team event with a total score of 1746-84x.
Prachi Gaikwad added a silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event after shooting 354.7 in the final. She finished just behind neutral athlete Taisia Tikhomirova, who scored 357.2.
With eight medals in two days, India have once again showcased their strength in junior shooting. More than 800 shooters from 70 federations are taking part in the championship, which runs until 26 June.
