Siliguri 27th Aug: Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting in Siliguri with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and senior officials to review four helplines launched by the state government to enable people to directly report alleged extortion and illegal activities.
The four toll-free numbers are 155334 for cut-money complaints, 155335 for syndicate-related complaints, 155337 for illegal road or toll tax and 155339 for illegal liquor.
Shah said citizens can use the helplines to register their complaints directly and asserted that prompt action would be ensured on every complaint received.
Taking aim at the Mamata Banerjee-led administration, Shah alleged that people in West Bengal had suffered for years from “cut-money”, syndicate activities and illegal collections.
He said the BJP government was working to dismantle what he described as an entrenched system of extortion and provide relief to the people of the state.
