Actor Gwyneth Paltrow was reportedly “sad” when she found out that her former fiancé Brad Pitt had married Friends star Jennifer Aniston, according to Amy Odell’s new book, Gwyneth: The Biography.
Gwyneth’s Reaction to Brad’s Wedding
Paltrow, now 52, and Pitt, now 61, began dating after starring together in David Fincher’s 1995 thriller Se7en. The two got engaged in 1996 but ended their relationship a year later. In Gwyneth: The Biography, Odell recounts Paltrow’s reaction when Pitt tied the knot with Aniston in July 2000.
During an interview at the Toronto Film Festival that year, a reporter asked Paltrow how she felt about Pitt’s marriage. According to the book, she replied sharply, “Are you really asking me this question?”—with her eyes reportedly turning into “daggers.” She added, “I can’t comment on this kind of thing.”
Despite the composed public response, the biography claims that Gwyneth privately confided in friends that she felt “sad” about the news—and allegedly took some pointed digs at both Pitt and Aniston.
“She was also fond of telling them that Brad ‘has terrible taste in women’,” Odell writes.

The book also mentions a dinner conversation later that year with Estée Lauder heiress Aerin Lauder. According to a source familiar with the exchange, Gwyneth allegedly said of Brad:
“He’s dumber than a sack of s–t.”
