New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his family on Tuesday, highlighting the warmth between the two leaders and their shared commitment to strengthening India-UK relations.

The interaction, which took place in New Delhi, saw both leaders engage in extensive discussions on various issues of mutual interest. PM Modi, taking to social media platform X, expressed his pleasure at meeting Sunak, describing him as a “great friend of India” and highlighting Sunak’s strong commitment to enhancing India-UK relations.

Sunak, who was accompanied by his mother-in-law Sudha Murty – celebrated author and Rajya Sabha MP – along with other family members, shared his enthusiasm for fostering deeper ties between the two nations.
During his visit, Sunak also held discussions with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Their meeting focused on exploring new opportunities to enhance market-based financial collaborations between India and the UK, aiming to drive economic growth and investment in both countries.
Rishi Sunak served as the 57th Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from October 2022 to November 2024. His marriage to Akshata Murty, daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and renowned author-philanthropist Sudha Murty, has spanned 15 years, and the couple shares two children.
