‘Got My Sex Education from That Show’: Sophie Turner Looks Back on Game of Thrones with Humor and Gratitude

Published:

Game of Thrones may have ended in 2019, but its legacy is far from fading — and for Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark across all eight seasons, it remains a defining chapter of her life and career.

Appearing on the July 9 episode of Dish, the podcast hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, Turner opened up about her decade-long journey with the show, recalling both the intensity of the experience and the deep bonds formed on set.

“It was great, it was like we were a family,” she said. “The character I got to live with for 10 years… it felt like we kind of merged into one person by the end. But it was amazing and formed my entire life — in terms of business decisions, etiquette on set, how to act… everything I learnt from Game of Thrones — and a bit from my parents,” she added, laughing.

Grimshaw chimed in, noting how surreal it must have been to feel such warmth behind the scenes while simultaneously portraying “really f*ed up st” on screen. Turner agreed with a cheeky grin:
“Actually, it was really great! I definitely got my sex education from that show. More than enough,” she joked.

Despite the show’s divisive finale, Turner expressed nothing but gratitude for the role that launched her career and shaped her understanding of the industry.

Currently, the actress is gearing up for the release of Trust, a psychological survival thriller set to hit theatres in August. She plays a Hollywood star who retreats to a remote cabin after a scandal, only to find herself fighting for survival.

As for Game of Thrones, all eight seasons remain available for streaming — because some thrones, it seems, never truly fall.
