Foreign Secretary Misri in Operation Sindoor Briefing: “India Was Compelled to Act”

Published:

Joint Press Briefing – Operation Sindoor
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri (Excerpted Statement)

In the aftermath of the recent attacks, the Government of India initiated a series of preliminary diplomatic measures concerning our engagement with Pakistan. However, it became imperative that those responsible—both perpetrators and masterminds—be held accountable.

Despite more than two weeks having elapsed since the incident, there has been no concrete or credible action taken by Pakistan to dismantle or address the terror infrastructure operating from within its territory or regions under its control. Instead, the response from Pakistan has been limited to blanket denials and baseless counter-allegations.

Continuous intelligence assessments revealed ongoing activity among Pakistan-based terrorist modules, strongly indicating the likelihood of further imminent attacks on Indian soil.

In light of this, there arose a clear strategic and moral necessity—not only to deter future acts of terror but also to pre-empt them.

Accordingly, earlier this morning, India exercised its sovereign right to respond, initiating a measured and precise operation to safeguard national security and uphold justice.
