Indore, 20th Sept. President Droupadi Murmu attended the 14th convocation of Devi Ahilya University in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. Addressing the graduating students, the President emphasized that convocation day is not only a time for celebration but also a moment to make important decisions about the future.

President Murmu acknowledged that while some students may already have a clear direction—whether to pursue higher education, start a career, or become entrepreneurs—others may still be uncertain. She advised the students to make thoughtful decisions about their paths, as these choices would shape the direction of their lives. Encouraging them to follow their abilities and interests, she reminded the students that the journey of acquiring knowledge should never stop.
The President also called on the graduates to use their knowledge and technological skills to promote inclusive and sustainable development. She urged them to remember that true progress comes when the development of one contributes to the growth of all.
Highlighting the legacy of Maharani Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, after whom the university is named, President Murmu spoke about her significant contributions to women empowerment. She noted that Maharani Ahilyabai’s life and leadership serve as a powerful example of how women can bring revolutionary change in political, social, economic, and spiritual spheres. The President expressed pride in the fact that female medal recipients outnumbered their male counterparts at this convocation, in line with the ideals of the university’s namesake.
President Murmu concluded by urging educational institutions and teachers to encourage girls to pursue higher education and become self-reliant. She stressed that by supporting young women in achieving their dreams, educational institutions could truly become key partners in the nation’s development.
The convocation ceremony marked an inspiring day for graduates, with a strong message of empowerment, knowledge, and collective progress.
