Mumbai: Writer-director Abhishek Pathak has revealed that Drishyam The Conclusion, the final chapter of the popular thriller franchise, will continue the story from where Drishyam 2 ended while taking Vijay Salgaonkar and his family into completely new territory.
The makers recently heightened anticipation around the third instalment by unveiling a series of intriguing eye posters, once again putting the spotlight on Vijay Salgaonkar and the mysteries surrounding his family. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 2, 2026.
Pathak, who directed Drishyam 2, said considerable time was spent developing the story and screenplay for the concluding chapter. According to him, the challenge was to preserve the suspenseful world that audiences have come to associate with the franchise while ensuring that the final film offers a fresh and unpredictable journey.
Story begins from where Drishyam 2 ended
Abhishek Pathak said Drishyam The Conclusion will directly take the narrative forward from the point where the second instalment left audiences guessing about the fate of Vijay Salgaonkar and his family.
However, he stressed that the continuation will not merely revisit familiar territory. The filmmaker said the third instalment has been designed with an entirely new screenplay and a fresh storyline that will take the central character into unexplored circumstances.
“After Drishyam 2, it took us almost a year to crack the story and another year to develop and write the screenplay,” Pathak said.
He added that while the new film continues from the previous chapter, the journey ahead will be completely different.
The director said the makers worked carefully on the screenplay to ensure that the concluding chapter remains faithful to the world of Drishyam, while also offering audiences a new and exciting progression of the story.
Makers spent two years developing the story
The long development process reflects the importance attached to the final instalment of the franchise. Pathak revealed that the makers took nearly one year to finalise the story and another year to develop and write the screenplay.
