Delhi Faces Hazy Morning as Air Quality Deteriorates to ‘Poor’ Levels

New Delhi, 19th Oct. Delhiites experienced a hazy morning on Saturday as smog enveloped the city, pushing the air quality into the ‘poor’ category. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the 24-hour Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 273 at 9 am.

Certain areas reported even worse air quality, with Mundka and Bawana recording an AQI of 366, Wazirpur at 355, Jahangirpuri at 347, and Anand Vihar at 333, all categorized as ‘very poor.’ The AQI scale classifies values between zero and 50 as ‘good’, 51 to 100 as ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 as ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 as ‘poor’, 301 to 400 as ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 as ‘severe’.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted a minimum temperature of 20.2 degrees Celsius, which is 1.8 degrees above the normal level. Humidity was recorded at 51% at 8:30 am. The IMD predicts clear skies throughout the day, with the maximum temperature expected to reach around 36 degrees Celsius.
