Deeply Concerned by Karnataka High Court’s Order: X Corp

Published:

Social media giant X Corp, formerly known as Twitter, expressed strong concern over a recent order issued by the Karnataka High Court, calling it a matter of serious implications for freedom of expression and digital platforms operating in India.

In a statement, the company said it was “deeply concerned” by the ruling, which, according to X Corp, imposes restrictions that could affect the way users engage on the platform. While the company did not disclose full details of the order, it indicated that compliance would impact transparency and the open flow of information—principles that have been at the core of the platform’s global operations.

X Corp emphasized that it respects the law of the land and remains committed to working with Indian authorities, but highlighted that the balance between regulation and free speech must be carefully preserved. The company stressed that platforms like X play a vital role in democratic dialogue, enabling citizens to express views, raise grievances, and engage with leaders without fear of censorship or reprisal.

The development has drawn attention from digital rights activists, who argue that increasing restrictions on online platforms could stifle dissent and limit access to diverse viewpoints. They urged both the judiciary and the government to ensure that regulations do not undermine constitutional guarantees of free speech.

X Corp reiterated its appeal for constructive dialogue with policymakers, noting that long-term solutions must safeguard both the safety of users and their right to participate in open debate. The company said it will continue to explore all legal options in response to the High Court’s directive.
