Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Thursday demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that security agencies acted on his directions during the police crackdown on students protesting over the alleged NEET (UG) paper leak at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi earlier this month.
Addressing a press conference at his residence in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, Dipke levelled a series of allegations against the Union government, investigative agencies and the Delhi Police. However, the allegations have not been independently verified, and there was no immediate response from the Union Home Ministry or the Delhi Police.
Alleges democracy is under threat
Dipke alleged that democracy in India was under threat and claimed that central investigative agencies were being used to target political opponents.
He accused agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of being used to weaken opposition parties.
According to him, these agencies had played a role in the political splits witnessed in parties such as the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Dipke said protecting democratic institutions should not remain the responsibility of opposition parties alone and urged citizens to unite against what he described as growing authoritarianism.
Seeks Amit Shah’s resignation
The CJP founder demanded that Amit Shah step down as Union Home Minister over the alleged handling of the student protests.
He questioned allegations that the Cockroach Janta Party had received foreign funding, stating that if such claims were true, it would reflect a failure of the Union Home Ministry.
Dipke further alleged that the decision to use force against students protesting at Jantar Mantar on July 20 had come directly from Amit Shah.
He did not present evidence to substantiate the allegation during the press conference.
Criticises Education Minister’s appointment
Dipke also criticised the appointment of Pralhad Joshi as the Union Education Minister.
He reiterated his opposition to the Centre’s handling of the alleged NEET (UG) examination irregularities and announced his support for farmers currently protesting against the government.
The CJP had led a month-long protest at Jantar Mantar demanding accountability over the alleged examination irregularities before calling off the agitation earlier this month.
Makes allegations against Delhi Police
During the interaction with reporters, Dipke also alleged that trucks carrying stones had been brought to the protest venue by the Delhi Police.
He claimed the intention was to create an impression that protesting students were involved in stone-pelting.
According to Dipke, he questioned the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) regarding the vehicle.
He said the officer informed him that the truck was transporting debris from a construction site.
However, Dipke alleged that the presence of the truck could have been part of a planned attempt involving the police and ruling party workers, although he did not provide evidence to support the claim.
Appeals to police personnel
Dipke appealed to police personnel across the country to perform their duties in accordance with the Constitution.
He urged law enforcement officers to remain impartial and not act under political pressure while dealing with protests and public demonstrations.
