Car Bomb Blast Near Red Fort Metro Station Kills 12, Over 20 Injured

Published:

A powerful car bomb explosion near Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi on Monday evening shook the national capital, killing 12 people and injuring more than 20 others. Authorities have confirmed that the blast was caused using ammonium nitrate and fuel oil, indicating a well-planned terror attack.

Preliminary investigations by Delhi Police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have linked the incident to a Faridabad-based terror module connected to the Pakistan-backed outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). Eight suspects, including three doctors, have been arrested in the operation. During raids, security agencies also seized around 2,900 kilograms of explosive material.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the victims’ families. The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed heightened security across Delhi and other major Indian cities. The investigation is being conducted under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
