England fast bowler Brydon Carse was seen in handcuffs in Derby in videos circulating on social media.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is currently investigating an incident that took place on Saturday night. A video obtained by The Telegraph shows Carse standing with the police, while former England captain Ben Stokes is also pictured in the background.

The incident reportedly occurred on 22 August after Carse joined his Durham teammates for celebrations following their 338-run County Championship victory over Derbyshire.

According to The Telegraph, Carse was briefly detained by the police but not arrested, and was seen returning to the team hotel soon after. Hence, it is still unclear what led the police to handcuff the England player outside the nightclub.

In the video, he was also seen speaking to his Durham teammate Matthew Potts. As reported by ESPNcricinfo, the ECB said on Sunday: “We are aware of an incident which is reported to have taken place in Derby last night and are currently investigating. We will provide a further update when possible.”

While Carse was not on international duty at the time, as a contracted player, the timing is embarrassing for the ECB.
