Bengaluru: Celebrations erupted across the city as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched their second consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) title, with fans pouring onto the streets to mark the historic achievement. City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh stated that the measures were part of routine security planning but emphasised the need for responsible celebrations.
“We have requested the public to enjoy in the right spirit and not create trouble for others. Bengaluru is a peaceful city, and we want to ensure that celebrations do not disturb that harmony,” he said.
Special drives against drunken driving were also carried out, and certain high-speed roads were temporarily closed to minimise risks.
Fans celebrate with caution and pride
Despite restrictions, the spirit among fans remained high. Groups gathered at popular locations, dancing and celebrating RCB’s success while largely adhering to guidelines set by the authorities.
Many supporters acknowledged the importance of maintaining discipline in light of last year’s tragedy. While some expressed disappointment over the absence of a formal victory parade, others appreciated the emphasis on safety.
“We are happy that RCB have won back-to-back titles. We expected a closer final, but the win is what matters,” said a fan celebrating in the city.

Additionally, the franchise, in association with the Karnataka State Cricket Association, designated 11 permanent seats at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in memory of the victims.
The tragedy had led to the stadium being closed for nearly eight months, with extensive safety inspections and renovations carried out before cricketing activities resumed.
Kohli acknowledges unmatched fan support
During post-match celebrations, Kohli highlighted the unwavering support of RCB fans across the country, noting their presence even in away venues.
“We do not have seven home games, we have 14,” Kohli remarked, referring to the strong turnout of RCB supporters at the final in Ahmedabad.
The Narendra Modi Stadium saw a sea of red as RCB fans outnumbered local supporters, underlining the franchise’s massive fan base.
