Bangladesh is set to host the 2027 Asia Cup with the tournament is expected to be played from June 18 to July 4 in the ODI format. The tournament will mark an important preparation for Asian teams ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has reportedly selected three venues for the tournament – Mirpur, Chattogram and Sylhet. The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur is expected to host the important fixtures while the stadiums in Chattogram and Sylhet will be hosting rest of the games.
The Asia Cup follows the format of the upcoming ICC tournament. Since the 2027 World Cup will be played in the ODI format, the Asia Cup will also follow the same 50-over cricket. The previous edition was played as a T20 tournament.
The dates and venues have been proposed but the ACC is yet to release the official schedule and fixtures. The proposal is expected to be discussed and finalised at the ACC’s meeting which is scheduled for September. India are the defending champions in both the formats they won the ODI Asia cup in 2023 and T20I version of the tournament in 2025.
