A Mental Home: Tribute to My Guru on Guru Purnima

Published:

In Honour of Dr. Sidhartha Ganguli – Scientist, Teacher, and Spiritual Mentor

On this sacred occasion of Guru Purnima, I offer my heartfelt gratitude by sharing the profound concept of an Organised Mental Home, as envisioned and lived by my Guru, Dr. Sidhartha Ganguli.

“Home is where the assembled Me lives.”

The “I” resides in the body. The soul inhabits the mind, and the mind dances in or outside the brain.

Dr. Ganguli has not only structured his physical life with intention and minimalism, but has also built an internal sanctum—a Mental Home—anchored in focus, sincerity, selfless service, and a fusion of science with spirituality. Let us take a walk through this sacred inner dwelling.

The Mental Home Blueprint

Entrance / Door / Windows / Ventilation
Only the creative are allowed selective entry. This space protects its energy reservoir. Social charm is not enough—depth is required.

Verandah
Adorned with pot plants and bird feeders. Music flows freely here. “Music is magical medicine,” says the Guru, who once introduced Beethoven and Mozart into a neonatal SCUBU, helping twin preemies thrive under pink light with exceptional weight gain in just 45 days.

Drawing Room (Limbic System)
A place for calm interaction without attachment. This space remains uncluttered, free from emotional overload. He practices selective deafness, sees only what matters, listens deeply but carries no emotional baggage.
A space to receive, reflect, and release.

Bedroom
The sanctuary of “Me and Mine.” An environment of positive vibrations and instrumental serenity. A zone of order, privacy, and positivity.
A place for everything, everything in its place.

Garden
A fertile space for creative reflection, cosmic awakening, and slow, meaningful detours that lead to discovery.

Toilet
A sacred zone for release—not just physical waste, but also vestigial thoughts, fears, shame, and emotional residue.
Maintenance and expression chamber.

Dining Room
Meals are offered with care, simplicity, and mindfulness. Nourishment here is a sacred ritual.

Kitchen
A ground of strategy. Skills, ideas, and collaborations simmer here—aromas of both food and thought rise in unison.

Store Room
Filled with mirror neurons, memory cells, vagal experiences, traditional healing tools, and ancient wisdom. This is the subconscious archive.

Prayer / Study Room
A space for thanksgiving, offering, and meditative scholarship.

Godown
A storage room for decluttered memories and old traumas—symbolically handed over to psychiatrists and psychologists. It cleanses the internal attic.

Garage
The vehicle bay of communication. All tools and modes of engagement rest here until called into action.

Interpreting Brain Homes: From Left to Right, Top to Bottom

These metaphorical home structures represent varying mental states:

  • Roof Closed, Barren Windows
Signifies mental fog, numbness, and blocked perception.

  • Geometric with Earth & Fire Elements
Represents grounded, goal-oriented, and structured thinking.

  • Spiky Roof, Clouded Sky, Flying Birds
Symbolizes brain fog, interfering thoughts, and aspirations trying to rise amidst confusion.

  • Triangular Roof with Chimney
Denotes overthinking, imported fantasies, and closed internal dialogue.

  • Sealed Windows, Rigid Path
Reflects anger, negative thoughts, and hopeful intent obstructed by rigidity.

  • Thatched Roof, Half-Open Door, Chimney
Indicates aspirations restrained by finances and a yearning for external movement.

  • Cremated Roof, Shut House, Spiritual Tree
Symbolizes isolation and intense faith—a reclusive yet deeply rooted inner devotion.

The Moral: Decorate Your Mental Home First

Before investing in curtains, tiles, or furnishings for our physical homes, we must ask:

Have we arranged the rooms of our mind?
Are we letting in joy and light?
Are we decluttering fear and fatigue?

This conceptual house draws inspiration from:

  • AI-based HTP (House-Tree-Person) analysis

  • Carl Jung’s Red Book

  • Buddhist scripts and hieroglyphs

Dr. Sidhartha Ganguli embodies the union of modern science with timeless spirituality, reminding us that the real home worth investing in is the Mental Home—where thoughts breathe, creativity sings, and the soul finds space.

Happy Guru Purnima.
