Following the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) poor performance in the recent Bihar elections, tensions within Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family have escalated, with his daughter Rohini Acharya making a dramatic public announcement that has intensified speculation about deepening internal rifts.
Rohini, who has been vocal on social media in the past, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday to declare that she would be “distancing herself from political matters” and focusing solely on her personal and professional life. The announcement came amid reports of disagreements within the Yadav household over the party’s election strategy and leadership approach.
Sources close to the family suggest that the electoral setback has triggered blame-shifting and dissatisfaction among several members, particularly regarding the dominance of Tejashwi Yadav in party affairs. Rohini’s statement is being interpreted by political observers as a sign of growing frustration and internal discord.
Although Rohini did not explicitly criticise anyone, her message hinted at emotional exhaustion and disappointment. Party insiders say her distancing could impact the RJD’s image further, especially at a time when the opposition is attempting to regroup.
Tejashwi Yadav has not commented on the development, while RJD supporters are divided—some expressing solidarity with Rohini, and others urging the family to maintain unity.
The Yadav family, historically seen as the RJD’s strongest political pillar, now faces the challenge of managing internal differences while attempting to mount an effective comeback after the electoral rout. Political analysts believe the coming weeks will determine whether the party can restore cohesion or whether the family feud will widen further.
