Bengal Will Teach BJP a Lesson Like It Did to Left Front in 2011: Abhishek Banerjee

Published:

Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has declared that the people of West Bengal will deliver a strong political message to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), similar to how they ousted the Left Front from power in 2011. Speaking at a public rally in South 24 Parganas, Banerjee said that the BJP’s divisive politics has no place in Bengal and that the people will “teach them a lesson at the ballot box.”

Drawing parallels to the political upheaval that brought Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress to power after 34 years of Left rule, Abhishek asserted that Bengal’s electorate has a history of decisively rejecting regimes that ignore public welfare. He accused the BJP of using central agencies to harass opposition leaders and divert attention from unemployment, inflation, and farmers’ distress.

Banerjee also criticized the Centre for allegedly withholding funds meant for state welfare schemes and said that the TMC will continue to fight for the rights of the people of Bengal. “Just as Bengal once rose against oppression and injustice, it will rise again — this time against the BJP’s authoritarianism,” he said.

TMC supporters present at the rally cheered the remarks, with several leaders echoing the sentiment that the upcoming elections will mark a turning point in Bengal’s political landscape. Party insiders believe the campaign will focus on projecting Mamata Banerjee’s welfare agenda and contrasting it with what they describe as the BJP’s “politics of vendetta.”
